Praise God for all the unique gifts and talents He has given you! Our loving Father has created you with specific attributes so you can reach people with His love. We all have things that we are passionate about and good at. Maybe for you, that’s music, a particular sport, working on cars, or serving the elderly. Sometimes, however, when we are passionate about many things or gifted in several different areas, we find ourselves pulled in too many directions. These kinds of energy leaks can leave us ineffective in the very thing that God has called us to do.
I love the story Kristie shared for The Outreaching Church book. She is an incredibly talented lady, and she was doing A LOT of excellent things in ministry. Sounds great, right?! Kristie knew that God had called her specifically to minister to seniors and those in assisted living or nursing homes, but she wasn’t able to give her full attention to this calling because of all of the other good things she was doing. In her own words, “I asked the Lord, Have you called me to this ministry? He very strongly said in return, ‘I have commanded you to do it.’ Since then, I have never looked back.”
What do you feel like God has called you to do? Are there energy leaks in your life keeping you from focusing your attention there? What are some things you might need to let go of (even really good things) to be more effective in what God has called you to do?
